This is an edited version of a previous post from April 20, 2010. I deleted 2 paragraphs of self-conscious newbie-blogger musings. On to business. Surnames mentioned: Bowker, Potter, Rankin, Stickney, Watts. Place names: Brookline, MA; Boston, MA; Taunton, MA; Machias, ME; Prince Edward Island, Canada; Fredrickton, NB
I recently sent off for certified copies of various vital records at the Massachusetts Archives, using my maternal grandmother, Barbara Bowker, as a starting point. Certified copies are $3, and are transcriptions of original records in standardized format with a pretty gold seal affixed. Photo images and digital scans of original copies are available, but cost more.
Last night I received the first batch of 4 records on Bowkers from the Vital Records (1841-1910) collection – link:

I’m not sure what is the best way to display what I have – that’s one of the blog-newbie things I need to figure out, but until I learn all the tools here, I’m going to just list all the data. Here goes:
Document 1: Barbara Bowker Birth Certificate
